Replacing Bitmap Transparent Actors

Bitmap actors are bmp pictures which are mounted on a morphable 3d frame.  If the background of the picture is a solid color, the frame will morph to the shape of the object.  You can import any bitmap or photo to replace a bitmap actor. Capture photographic images to the computer Photo CDs, scanners, video capture cards, video frame grabbers, or digital cameras.   Modify the image for solid color background. Windows Paintbrush, Adobe Photoshop, Photo Impact, Corel PhotoPaint or others can handle this modification.

  1. Follow these instructions in a paint program:

Open the captured photograph in a paint program. Crop the photo as close to the object as possible. The background should be a solid color, if not, erase around the object so that it is separate from the background and completely fill the background with a solid color.

You may pick any color for a background, but make sure that color does not appear on the object itself.  If it does, it too will appear transparent.  You can use the transparent effect for a window.

Save the file as a bmp.

  2. Return to  your .3DC file to attach the new photograph:

    A. Select the bitmap actor by clicking on it.
    B. Click on Actor/Attach Bitmap.
